Installations are also part of the discovery process with an image and are part of an effort to push an image to its limit to engage the viewer. Moving an image from behind a mat to a new life in a 3D space is only the beginning. The installation itself may provide an opportunity for a new image. An example of this is “Flight”. The process begins with an image capture and processing. The projection of this image creates a new image with its capture and processing. By printing this image at various sizes, cutting the image into a shape, and then placing the prints on a floor, the creation of an installation provides a new opportunity for exploration with a new image capture of the installation. This process of exploring the many possibilities for the creation an image and finding new ways to engage the viewer with new methods to display images is the driving inspiration behind my work.
